Inside Biometrics Appoints Human Physiology Expert Prof. Dylan Thompson to its Advisory Board

Leading self-tracking devices company, Inside Biometrics has today announced the appointment of Professor Dylan Thompson to its Science and Medical Advisory Board.

Prof. Thompson is currently a Director of Research at the University of Bath, having previously held the position of Head of Sport, Health & Exercise Science, also at the University’s Department for Health.

Prof. Thompson is a human physiologist specialising in how physical activity and diet help maintain health and prevent chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes. His particular interests include physical activity, diet, adipose tissue, metabolic function and chronic disease. One of his strands of research seeks to understand the mechanisms through which regular physical activity and diet maintain health. A second strand seeks to capitalise on technological innovation to help people make positive changes to their behaviour and thus reduce the risk of chronic disease.

Prof. Thompson has published extensively in this field with over 75 articles in prestigious journals and served as an advisor to grant agencies and multinational companies.

Selly Saini, CEO, Inside Biometrics, commented on the appointment: “Professor Thompson brings a wealth of experience in understanding the molecular basis of metabolic diseases and the technology opportunities that exist that could facilitate their prevention.  This makes his appointment particularly suited to our product solutions in diabetes self-monitoring and weight management.”

Prof. Thompson added: “IBL has developed a set of biometric trackers that could hold significant potential for weight management and improved diabetes care and I look forward to working closely with the Company in evaluating the potential for improved health.”
